Got started on the Audio in the Monte - here's the head unit installed, I had to stop work - got started and realized I had no terminal connectors! banghead

But maybe tomorrow I'll have it wired. The Autometer shift light is new too, Same thing no connectors to wire it.

I realized - 48 sucks. I cannot bend and twist under those dash boards quite so easily these days. rofl

LOL, I got you by a year and have taken to removing the front seat to do this kind of work now. Much easier to laydown and work overhead. I do wear glasses though. WIthout them, I'm sure I would have something stuck in my eye that doesn't belong there.

Well I guess if there's anything positive to say here- my floor boards are still cleaner than Tim-aye's!

Zing ! run

Got the front component speakers test fitted in yesterday.

It's a matched set of Alpine 2 ways with component tweeters. I might have to move that D-side tweeter it's tucked up behind the E-brake... sort of screwed the pooch on that side. banghead

Not sure how much difference it will make sound stage wise, guess I will see how it works out when it's all wired and connected.

realistically, the tweeters down that low are already an issue. The front stage will just be a bit muddier than the rear, assuming at least a two way mounted on the deck. The bounce off of the rear window will make that a bit bright.

One option in the front would be to get another set of tweats and mount them in the dash in the original speaker locations. These too may be a bit bright with the sound bouncing off of the windshield in your face but you can resist them down to mellow that.

I keep hemming and hawing over using kick panels for speakers. My gut tells me to make a custom console and mount the speakers in the center, under the dash angled back toward the seat and up some. Who knows, maybe both, kicks and the console are in my future. Too much is just enough right?
